Mayor Cory A. Booker welcomed the UniverSoul Circus back to Newark for its 16th straight year, at a special performance for City senior citizens at the John F. Kennedy Recreation Center, on May 5, 2009. Clowns, jugglers, acrobats, and dancers entertained the seniors, who also received free tickets to the performances from Local Talk publisher Dhiren Shah, which run through May 10.
