Nutley Police Warn Residents and Business Owners about Theft to Vehicles

Police Director Alphonse Petracco, and Chief Thomas Strumolo are warning residents, to lock their car doors.

Chief Strumolo reports that this past month we have experienced a spike in unlawful entry into unlocked motor vehicles. With the latest incidents occurring early morning hours Monday into Tuesday on Rutgers, Wharton, Kingsland, North and River Rd. The actor (s) try door handles in search for unlocked vehicles, then enter stealing valuables within.

Landscapers, and Contractors, we have also been investigating a number of thefts involving open, unattended landscape trailers, in which valuable equipment is stolen when workers are distracted, or leave tools unsupervised.

Police urge anyone that may see suspicious activity such as vehicles driving slowly, or making numerous passes, parked or occupied vehicles, and suspicious individuals on neighboring properties to notify Police at 973-284-4940 or dial 911 for emergent matters.
