4/21/18

******Fraud – The victim of fraud reported that they noticed charges on their account which they did not recognize. The financial institution stated that someone had put a “levy” on their account for non-payment. The charges were for $11,320 and $60.00 respectively. Officers advised the victim to put a hold on their checking account and to monitor their accounts for other fraudulent activity. They were advised to contact Headquarters if they incur a monetary loss as a result of fraudulent activity.

4/22/18

*******Criminal Mischief – Hillside Crescent - The victim stated that they noticed someone keyed their work vehicle on the rear passenger’s side and the rear driver’s side while it was parked, but is unsure of when the incident might have occurred. The registered owner was notified of the damage by the driver.

4/23/18

********Fraud – A resident responded to Headquarters to report that they mailed a check that was not received by the correct party and found to be re-written to a different party and cashed. The victim responded to their financial institution who froze the account and will be investigating the incident.

*********Suspicious Person – Washington Avenue – Officers responded to the area regarding a party inside the establishment that was sleeping after being there for over 8 hours. The party, Toni Stavalo, 60, of Bloomfield, was found to have two active warrants out of Belleville and Montclair, and was taken into custody. The two jurisdictions were contacted and released Ms. Stavalo on her own recognizance with new Court dates.

4/24/18

********Shoplifting – Franklin Avenue – Officers responded to the establishment regarding a shoplifting incident. Gerardine Paolello, 49, of Belleville, was placed in Police custody and transported to Headquarters without incident. A search incident to arrest revealed she was in possession of CDS, Ms. Paolello was charged with the following charges: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Failure to turn over controlled dangerous substance to Officer, and Shoplifting, which were placed on summonses. She was released from Police custody with her mandatory Court date.

4/27/18

*****Theft – Passaic Avenue - Officers responded the area on a report of a past occurred theft. The victim stated that they have been noticing items missing from their home over the past week. Detective Bureau was advised of the incident and will be following up with the victim.
