3/24/18

*******Forgery – Harrison Street – Patrol units were dispatched to the area regarding forgery. The store manager stated that a male customer handed a fraudulent $100 bill as payment for their items. The establishment did not know it was a counterfeit until after the party had exited the establishment. Apparently, a party matching the same description, male customer with a scarf around his head, had presented a fake $100 bill in Kearny. The Detective Bureau was notified and will be assuming the investigation. Nothing further.

*******Theft – San Antonio Avenue – A motor vehicle stop was initiated for its occupants suspected in a package theft on Franklin Avenue. While approaching the vehicle Officers could see a ripped up cardboard box with the Franklin Avenue resident’s name clearly written. The passenger, Carle Dangelo, 35, of Scotch Plains, admitted to taking a package off a porch, and was placed under arrest. He was transported without incident to Headquarters and was charged with one count of Theft. He was also charged in Glen Ridge for similar thefts. The other items found in the vehicle were placed into evidence for safe keeping. The driver of the vehicle was issued traffic summonses for Failure to Possess Registration, Failure to Possess Insurance, and Inspection.

*****Theft of Services – Bloomfield Avenue – Officers responded to the area regarding a report of theft of services. Upon arrival, the attendant stated that at approximately 3pm, a young male party pulled into the gas station and requested $10 cash in gas, however when it came time for payment, the party stated that they did not have cash on them and would return in 10 minutes with the money, but did not return. The attendant was advised of their right to file a complaint with regard to the incident. Nothing further.

********Motor Vehicle Stop – Centre Street – While Officers were initiating a motor vehicle stop, the driver left the scene and would not stop for Officers while in pursuit. Dispatch broke off the incident and a short time later, Patrol found the same vehicle in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot. When approached, the driver would not comply with Officers requests. Thomas Ryan, 43, of Nutley, was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters. He was charged of Eluding Police in a Motor Vehicle, which is a 3rd degree crime. Mr. Ryan was printed, issued all pertinent paperwork, and advised of his mandatory Court date before being released.

*****Theft of Services – Headquarters received a report from a store owner regarding two separate incidents of theft of services. They stated that three checks from the same individual have been returned by the bank for insufficient funds. The three checks totaled over 1000.00. The victim attempted to contact the actor on several occasions in regards to payment of the full amount owed with negative results. The victim was advised of their right to file a complaint with the Court Clerk against the actor.

*******Dispute – Franklin Avenue - While on patrol, Officers were waved down by a bus driver who pulled their bus to the side of the road. A party inside the bus failed to pay the entire fare and giving the driver a hard time. The party, Kwateira Johnson, 21, of Paterson, was found to have two (2) active warrants out of Paramus and Elmwood Park, was placed under arrest, and transported to Headquarters without incident. The appropriate bail was paid for the Elmwood Park warrant and Paramus PD was contacted who released Ms. Johnson on her own recognizance with her new Court date. No further information at this time.

********Theft – Centre Street – Headquarters received a report regarding a vehicle that had been entered overnight and several items stolen from within. The victim recalls locking their vehicle after it was parked for the evening. There was no sign of forced entry or damage to the vehicle. They were advised of how to obtain a copy of their report

******Motor Vehicle Stop – Hampton Place – Patrol units initiated a motor vehicle stop for a vehicle that was reported stolen. Backup units arrived and assisted with the stop. The driver, Musa Olca, 40, of Nutley, was placed under arrest and transported to Headquarters without incident. He was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, issued motor vehicle summonses for Fictitious Plates, Driving/Parking Unregistered Motor Vehicle, advised of his Court date and released from custody.

*****Motor Vehicle Stop – Dock Street - a motor vehicle stop resulted in the arrest of Lewis M. Alfred, 47, of West Chester, PA, for three (3) outstanding warrants out of Newark, East Orange, and Hillside. He was transported to Headquarters without incident but unable to post the appropriate bail for the warrants. Each jurisdiction was contacted and released Mr. Alfred on his own recognizance with his pending Court dates. He was issued two (2) moving violations for Driving While Suspended and Driving Without a License from Nutley Officers. No further Police action taken.

*********Criminal Mischief – Winthrop Drive – Headquarters received a report from a victim who stated that they parked their Porsche in the visitor’s parking lot near their residence and when they returned to the car they noticed four (4) different scratches. The damage appeared to be made with a key on the front driver’s side bumper, front passenger’s side bumper, rear driver’s side bumper, and rear passenger side bumper. The victim was advised of how to obtain a copy of the report for their records.
