Montclair Police Department Blotter 03-20-2018

Arrest:

03-17-2018 (Pine Street) Two Montclair juveniles (15 & 16yoa) were arrested after being observed breaking into multiple vehicles. One of the juveniles was charged with theft, the other with Possession of CDS.

03-18-2018 (Eagle Rock Way) Mr. Lawrence Athill, 64yoa from Montclair, was arrested and charged with Cruelty to Animals after being observed swinging a dog through the air on a leash, into a tree. The dog, a 40lb mix-breed had a small amount of blood on its head but did not appear seriously injured. Animal control officers responded to the scene and took the dog for medical treatment. The dog will remain in their care until a final determination is made.

03-19-2018 (Bloomfield Avenue) Mr. Anglo Cruz, 54yoa from Newark was arrested on an open warrant out of Newark. Through investigation, he was also charged with Theft for two prior shoplifting incidents at Romany Liquor Store.

Burglary/Theft:

03-14-2018 (Willowdale Avenue) Burglary to an apartment. Two portable video game systems were taken in this incident.

03-15-2018 (Claremont Avenue) An unlocked vehicle was entered. A wallet was taken in this incident.

03-15-2018 (Forest Street) Theft of an iPod from an unlocked motor vehicle.

03-15-2018 (Lansing Place) Theft of bookbags from an unlocked motor vehicle.

03-16-2018 (Montclair High School) Theft of a bicycle from a school bike rack near the main entrance.

03-17-2018 (Lackawanna Plaza) Theft of a laptop from a backpack which had been left unattended.

03-17-2018 (Lloyd Road) Residents returned home to find their home in disarray and observed a suspect flee from the residence on foot. This suspect was described as a male wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. Nothing was reported missing in this incident.
