Montclair High School is closed again tomorrow, September 12, due to stairs collapsing in the school on Friday, September 7. Luckily, no one was injured.

This is the second school day this week the high school and freshman building are being closed, as inspectors work to determine the damage and if there are any safety issues.

The school sent out a notice stating, "The purpose of this closing is to further analyze the structural soundness of each staircase at Montclair High School."

Both the high school and freshman building will be closed tomorrow. No official word has been sent yet as to whether or not the high school will be open Wednesday.

Last Friday, one set of stairs was closed due to damage, and numerous students reported that the staircase collapsed.

The Montclair High School, as many schools in New Jersey, is an old building. However, the question must be asked:

Didn't any inspector check out the stairways and other structural areas since the school is so old?

Further updates to follow as information is confirmed.
