In honor of Black History Month, Emmy-nominated, award-winning filmmakers Marylou and Jerome Bongiorno (of Newark) will present a film-lecture titled "From Revolution to Solution: Informed Cinema and Conversation About Newark" on Thursday, February 21 at 6:30 pm in the Community Room of the West Caldwell Public Library, 30 Clinton Road.

This cultural/ educational program will focus on the complex and rich history of Newark, New Jersey's largest city. Clips from three documentaries by the filmmakers will be shown, including: "Revolution '67," which explores the the 1967 Newark Riots/ Rebellion; "The Rule," which examines urban school reform using the model of St. Benedict's Prep; and "Rust," which investigates solutions to inter-generational poverty including prisoner reentry. These documentaries allow a look at the past, present and future of Newark and serve as a springboard to a discussion about the opportunities and challenges facing urban environments such as Newark.
