An Italian in A Kosher Kitchen

Considering the Genius of a Great (Kosher) Hot Dog

Win a Weber Grill!

Last week, I took a walk on the wild side, and visited an incredible hot dog spot in Hillside, New Jersey. I have always wanted to see exactly how hot dogs are made, and I was surprised to find that not only is it fun to watch but also great to smell. When I grilled them, I was delighted to bite into a perfectly plump, all beef hot dog that tasted like the frankfurters my dad cooked when I was a kid in Rhode Island. The burst of flavor - created by the secret seasonings and superior meat -  brought me back to some great memories when cooking a hot dog on a grill meant it was time to relax and enjoy family time.

Abeles and Heymann have been around since 1954 and have grown tremendously, but the owners have done something magical: kept that authentic hot dog scrumptious taste alive. Every hot dog is lovingly prepared with only the finest quality Kosher meat - and this is truly "Glatt Kosher" as well, which is another higher level of Kosher. Let's face it: Kosher is truly the "original"  clean ingredients food!
As a person who loves food but wants to eat clean ingredients, I was mesmerized. The newest hot dogs in their line are Kosher and Kosher for Passover - have NO fillers; low sodium; NO nitrates/nitrites added and are absolutely delicious.
Here is a recipe A&H shared with me, that I hope you can make this Passover, or any time. As an Italian who loves Kosher food, take note: this is a superb way to eat your hot dogs!

It's also worth mentioning that the sister company to A&H is called Hod Golan, a food company that makes all their poultry foods in Israel and imports them to the U.S. I promise to write about them soon - but for now, check out this recipe.

A&H is also running a very cool contest - you can win a Weber grill! Be sure to enter daily to win - Enter here.
