If you are not one of the almost 100 million of people who have already cast their votre in this contentious presidential election, then today is your big day.

Today is your day to get out and vote. However, due to the  air-borne, contageous Pandemic, 2020 is an historic year to cast your vote  and everything is different.

Here is what you need to know in New Jersey, in Essex County.

There will be NO Electronic Voting Machines at your Polling Place on Election Day!

You can only vote 3 ways at your polling place on Election Day.

  1. Vote on a provisional paper ballot.
  2. Vote utilizing the audio component to listen to the ballot and make selections on a hand-held device (only if you are disabled)
  3. Bring your Vote by Mail Ballot to your polling place and drop your voted ballot in a Secure Drop Box inside your polling place.

Where is my polling place? Check the New Jersey polling place search. If no match is found, contact your county board of elections for your polling place location. Essex Count Board of Elections at 973-621-5070.

On Election Day, November 3rd, you can vote in person by returning your completed vote-by-mail ballot to your designated polling location between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Remember, you and only you can drop off your ballot.

There will still be at least one polling location available in every municipality in the state and each county will operate at least 50% of its normal polling location capacity.

If you cannot locate your vote-by-mail ballot, or did not receive one, you can vote on a provisional paper ballot at your polling place. All valid provisional ballots will be counted after every vote-by-mail ballot is counted. All provisional ballots are then reviewed and matched to the voters’ names before counting, in order to confirm that only one ballot per person has been submitted.

Voters with disabilities that prevent them from voting on a paper ballot will be able to use an accessible voting device.

Polling location information is provided by the counties and is subject to change.
