The West Caldwell Public Library’s Adult Summer Reading Series, based on the theme “Libraries Rock,” will conclude with a book and film discussion of the critically acclaimed film “Immortal Beloved” at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, August 21 in the Community Room.

Starring Gary Oldman, the film deals with the life, loves and death of the legendary composer Ludwig van Beethoven. Besides all of his famous musical compositions, Beethoven once wrote a mysterious love letter to a nameless beloved and, upon his death, he bequeathed all of his property to this unnamed “immortal beloved.” Therefore, his secretary and confidant had to scour the countryside to solve the mystery and find the rightful heir.

Prior to viewing the film, participants should read the biography “Beethoven: the Universal Composer” by Edmund Morris. Copies of the book are available at the Library’s Reference Desk.

Sarita Maldjian, a local professional musician and private music teacher, will lead the discussion and light refreshments will be served. This music biopic book and film discussion is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required. To sign-up, call the Library at 973-226-5441 or to sign-up online at http:// tinyurl.com/WCPL-Events.
