Blizzard on Way - Schools Closed Thursday, January 4

Posted

Schools are closed in our area, from Nutley to Montclair to the Caldwells/North Caldwell and Jersey City. With blizzard conditions including severe winds and snow accumulation from 6-12 inches possible, schools are closed.

Authorities are warning people to use extreme caution, and it is expected that with the severity of the storm, motorists may be told to stay off the roadways. If the storm hits as predicted, expect a state of emergency, which the governor's office can call, so that roadways can be cleared during white-outs and other dangerous conditions.

If you lose power, grab a few blankets - and contact PSEG.

For now, be sure to have all of your devices charged fully.

Mass transit is expected to have both delays and cancellations. Airports are predicting cancellations today as well, which may include issues tomorrow.

Updates to follow.
