BEFORE SHE WAS HARRIET RECEIVES CORETTA SCOTT KING AWARD

Lesa Cline-Ransome and James E. Ransome, who recently received
the prestigious Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor Award, will be giving a free reading and book signing at the Montclair Public Library on Sunday, February 18 at 2 pm.
This award winning duo will do a talk, reading and book signing about their new
children’s book, Before She Was Harriet about Harriet Tubman.

The event will be in the Auditorium of the Main Library at 50 South Fullerton Avenue, Montclair NJ.
Copies of Before She Was Harriet will be available for sale but the event is free.

Together the Ransomes have produced a number of children’s books including
Words Set Me Free: The Story of Young Frederick Douglass, Benny Goodman & Teddy Wilson: Taking the Stage as the First Black-and-White Jazz Band in History, and Just a Lucky So and So: The Story of Louis Armstrong.
The King Book Awards recognize African American authors and illustrators of
outstanding books for children and young adults.
